Carol Vorderman favourite to take 'Countdown' reins

Digital Spy is reporting that Carol Vorderman is the favourite to succeed Des Lynam as the new host of Countdown - followed by Noel Edmonds and Des O'Connor.

Lynam announced he was leaving the Channel 4 daytime institution at the weekend. According to bookies William Hill, his co-host and maths expert Vorderman is the favoured choice to take his place.Gamblers' second choice is Edmonds, following his Deal Or No Deal return to favour, while veteran host O'Connor has also been the subject of a string of bets."Yesterday the majority of bets were for Carol Vorderman but today it has all been about Des," said spokesman Rupert Adams. "The wagers are from all over the country, so there could well be something in the rumour."
